    Plaquenil 6 months

I developed congestive heart failure and was taken off all RA meds except prednisone for a year. For years, I have been complaining to any of my doctors, who would listen, about the dizziness. I went back to my rheumatologist and he prescribed plaquenil again. In the beginning ( The first year or two) It really helped, with my symptoms, with lupus. This past two years, the dizziness has now, turned in to vertigo.

What is hydroxychloroquine sulfate used for Hydroxychloroquine makes me feel worse

Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug, meaning that it can take up to 6 months to experience the full benefits of this medication, but it is possible for symptoms to improve in as few as 1 or 2 months. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives. I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. It doesn't agree with my stomach I take it with meals too. And since I hadn't had a miraculous recovery the 6 months I'd been on it, I didn't think there was any harm in stopping it. BUT after being off it for a month and a half my body feels like it's falling apart. Usually Plaquenil related hair loss starts 2-6 months after the Plaquenil was started. We call this a drug induced telogen effluvium. If the Plaquenil was started 10 years ago and a patient reports hair loss last month, it’s not very likely that the Plaquenil is the culprit.

Now, that I have read this site, explanation of plaquenil, I think the mystery is solved. After taking it for 6 weeks, I had shortness of breath so I stopped taking it. Again, I have been trying to find out , what have been causing the vertigo.

Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug. People who take Plaquenil may begin to notice improvement after one or two months. It may take up to six months before the full benefits of Plaquenil are realized. About 3 to 4 hours. Renal clearance in rheumatoid arthritis RA patients taking PLAQUENIL for at least six months seemed to be similar to that of the single dose studies in volunteers, suggesting. After a month my severe muscle pains went down from an average of 15 incidents per month, to 6 per month, and after a few more months, to just 2-3 per month. I had never gone through even one month of such drastically reduced muscle pain in the 4 years since it started.
