Find patient medical information for Atenolol Oral on WebMD including its uses, side effects and safety, interactions, pictures, warnings and user ratings. Atenolol Definition Atenolol is a relatively long-acting 24 hours beta-blocker. Beta-blockers as a group of medications calm or slow the heart rate down. They stop the swings in hr from stress or nerves. If someone is on a good dose of a beta-blocker and are startled, the medication suppresses the pounding of your heart. Metoprolol and atenolol are some of the most popular heart medications and are often used to treat high blood pressure. They are both very similar in terms of how they work, but there are a few important differences between the two, including how they’re taken and what conditions they treat.

Taking hydroxychloroquine long-term or at high doses may cause irreversible damage to the retina of your eye. Hydroxychloroquine is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus.

Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a drug that is classified as an anti-malarial drug. Plaquenil is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of malaria. It is also prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and the side effects of lupus such as hair loss, joint pain, and more. Atenolol reduces the force of heart muscle contraction and can aggravate symptoms of heart failure. In patients with coronary artery disease, abruptly stopping atenolol can suddenly worsen angina, and occasionally precipitate heart attacks. If it is necessary to discontinue atenolol, its dosage can be reduced gradually over several weeks. So this is my 1st week taking atenolol 25 mg. Losartan gave spasm and heartburn, and I think it gets better since I stopped taking losartan a week ago. However atenolol makes me feel so tired, like after 40 minutes of walking, I just want to sit and I feel like no energy of doing other stuff, like a dragging feeling.

I think I'm going to tell my Rheumy that I at least want to try Plaquenil and take the risk (I only got a really red rash that looked like measles when I had the reaction).thanks, Robin I have a sulfa allergy, and have taken Plaquenil for 4 years without any adverse effects. What Eye Problems and Conditions Are Associated With Lupus? Many eye problems in patients with lupus originate from the drugs doctors use to treat lupus itself. Three groups of medications prescribed for lupus patients are immunosuppressive drugs such as methotrexate and mycophenolate, antimalarials such as hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil®, and steroids.
