The dose depends on the disease being treated and on the person’s weight. The oral tablet form dose is usually 75mg to 200mg per day. If you need to take a dose requiring half a permanenttablet e.g. 75mg, it is important not to break the tablets. Dose for example, 400 mg or 2 tablets of hydroxychloroquine and later your doctor may reduce it for example, to 200 mg or one tablet daily of hydroxychloroquine. Some patients need to take hydroxychloroquine only two or three times per week when their disease is well controlled.

Plaquenil is also an antirheumatic medicine and is used to treat symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and discoid or systemic lupus erythematosus. This medicine is not effective against all strains of malaria.

Plaqunil rash - I am starting to wonder if they are related to Plaquenil. My doctor now wants me to start on Chloroquine instead of plaquenil. I've always been one to go for the natural route and am starting to feel like I should just stop taking everything and see what happens - so frustrating.
